In the late 1930s, two Portuguese merchants asked IWC for a wristwatch with the accuracy of a marine chronometer, which led the brand to house a pocket-watch caliber inside a large case inspired by the deck instruments they were building at the time. That clean, open dial layout became a signature, and the Portugieser has held onto that timeless, modern elegance ever since. Ref. IW500702 captures those design cues perfectly with its railway-track chapter ring, applied Arabic numerals, and graceful feuille hands. This example features a grey dial inside an 18k rose gold case and features a brown alligator strap for a warm, refined wrist presence.
