Tudor Submariner Prince Date 79190 Blue Dial

This Tudor Submariner is in overall great, attractive condition. The case is in great condition with normal signs of wear. The caseback has some scratches/wear and the “Tudor Prince Geneva” text is clearly visible. The inside caseback is stamped “79190”. The numbers are clearly visible between the lugs. The crown shows some wear. The bezel ring has remained sharp and the insert is in great condition with some scratches and wear; the pip is a later replacement. The paint in the numbers has been re-applied. The dial is in good, attractive condition with some wear and signs of hand-drag in the center (this can be hard to notice). The lume has remained fairly white with light patina. The hands are service replacements and have been color matched/relumed to match the color of the lume on the dial. This watch has a 9315 Oyster bracelet with 10 links, no. 380B end links, and divers extension. The bracelet is in overall great condition with normal signs of wear and a bit of stretch between the links. Some of the links have small indentations. The clasp and divers extension are signed “Tudor.” The clasp is stamped “Z2” indicating it’s from 1997.

Vintage Tudor Submariner ref 79190 Circa 1997. These Tudor Submariner ref. 79190s were offered with either blue or black dials with matching bezels or with the elusive polished steel bezel. This example is the former with a beautiful striking blue dial and polished steel bezel. This reference was the last version of the Tudor Submariner before they got rid of the line and would stop using the term “Submariner.” This reference is somewhat of a rare bird as we don’t see them too often.

1990s Tudor Submariners offer a great value and have a nice blend of modern and vintage characteristics. Tudor still used folded link bracelets into the late 1990s. In addition, the depth rating is “meters first” giving a vintage nod to 1960s Rolex Submariners. If you are looking for a Submariner that is a little different and blue, this is something to consider!
