Pre-owned IWC Big Pilot’s Watch 43 TOP GUN ref IW329801 (2025) takes one of IWC’s most recognizable designs and pushes it in a much more modern, technical direction. The Big Pilot has been around since 2002, but this TOP GUN version feels very much of the present. The case is rendered in matte black ceramic, which keeps the watch looking purposeful and low-key despite its size, while the titanium crown and caseback add a subtle contrast that feels very IWC. At just under 44mm across, it’s still a Big Pilot, but the slimmer profile makes it far easier to wear than the older, oversized versions. Legibility is the whole point here: a flat black dial, oversized hands and markers, and nothing on the display except the time. Inside is IWC’s in-house caliber 82100 with the Pellaton winding system and a 60-hour power reserve, protected by a soft-iron inner case for magnetic resistance. Paired here on a black textile strap with the EasX-CHANGE system, it’s a stripped-back Big Pilot that’s perhaps more instrument than statement piece.
