Pre-owned Rolex Submariner ref 16613 (1991). When the Submariner debuted in the 1950s, it was initially meant as a professional diver’s tool watch. As a result, it was only available in steel. Divers didn’t need the flash of gold while exploring the ocean’s depths, after all. However, as the watch’s popularity boomed among both professionals and luxury watch enthusiasts, Rolex started to expand the collection. Two-tone models really became popular around the 1980s, with the ref. 16613 being the quintessential modern model. The aluminum bezel was eventually phased out for ceramic alongside ref. 116613, and the hour markers eventually grew to “Maxi” style hour markers and hands. However, there are still many collectors who prefer the distinctive aesthetics of the Rolex 16613 for sale here.
