Founded in 1853 and then merged with Omega in 1930, Tissot has been producing affordable luxury watches as long as many Swiss watchmakers. Tissot has a long history of sponsoring car racing competitions and was a favorite of many drivers. In 1965, Tissot launched the Tissot PR 516 (“Particularly Resistant.”) Its bracelet with holes referred to the steering wheel of racing cars. This world’s first was then copied by many other watch brands. The Tissot Martini Racing from 1987 was a sporty watch that included a chronograph with intermediate-time, measuring to 1/10th second. Today Tissot is part of the SWATCH group and continues to produce well-made luxury watches that are a great value, as it can leverage the SWATCH group resources along with its own experience and heritage.
