Rolex Submariner 116659 Sapphire & Diamond Bezel

Pre-owned Rolex Submariner Date 116659 (2021) appears, at first glance, to be a blinged-out variation of the white gold Rolex. But, of course, this watch is so much more than that. If you look even closer at the dial, you will notice that Rolex has left out the typically present depth rating, creating what appears to be a cleaner dial to offset the opulence of the bejeweled dial, bezel, and lugs.

Additionally, there is no ceramic insert. Instead, the bezel is adorned with 27 baguette-cut sapphires punctuated by baguette-cut diamonds at 11 of the hour markers. Like other Submariners, the cardinal hour markers are distinguished by lume for better legibility, while the rest of the hour markers are set with round sapphires. The first nine sapphires are in a lighter shade to distinguish the first 15 minutes from the rest of the bezel for timing decompression times, a charming detail for the purist at heart. Lastly, the lugs are encrusted with diamonds. It is a truly spectacular display of Rolex’s gem-setting prowess and enduring dive watch heritage.
